Day 88

I was playing around online earlier and just happened onto this craft, totally by accident, and I just knew I had to do it because I needed something funny and cute and really meaningless.  Fun was the order of the day.

If you have ever visited the website "I Can Has Cheezburger" you know where this craft came from.  Someone turned Ceiling Cat into a paper craft, and if I knew where they lived, I would hug them.  The site for this template can be found HERE.

Basically what I did is printed the template out on white card stock, cut the cat head out and the ceiling square, used a bone folder to go over all the folding lines, folded everything and taped (not glued, since I was having a heck of a time with the glue) all the folds down to form the cat.  Then I used white craft glue to stick the cat head to the ceiling hole.  And then I adored it lovingly!

Here is what it looks like when I finished...(I can't put it on the ceiling until the glue dries and don't think I'm not going to, because it's too cute not to stick it up there!):

Day 83

I have this really pretty peacock themed scrapbook and card stock paper that I wanted to use tonight but wasn't really sure how to.  I decided a mosaic style card might be a nice way to showcase the different papers.  I was trying to be precise about my cuts and then realized I wasn't getting anywhere trying to figure out measurements, so I just went for a haphazard approach, which when your crafting seems like a fantastic idea!

I picked a pretty blue card stock for the actual card, I then picked three different peacock themed card stock to go with it.  I cut each peacock paper into three strips and then each strip into squares.  I then applied each square to the blue card stock in a varied pattern.  It was really hard to photograph this when I was done because the paper is very shiny.  But here is what I came up with:

Day 81

I do believe I am suffering from crafter's block, or something like that.  Work has been keeping me so busy and I'm thinking that has something to do with it!  The nerve of them, don't they know they need to back off!  :)  Ah well...

I decided to go with another card today, just an everyday, all occasion card.  We have these three little wire rings, that honestly I can't remember where they came from, but I know Stan said to keep them because I might be able to use them in a craft.  I'm glad he had me save them.

I took the three wire rings, some extra decorative scrapbook paper and pink card stock to make the card.  I used some decorative scissors to cut the scrapbook paper, to give it a cute "different" look and glued that onto the card stock, then glued the wire rings over the scrapbook paper.  I really like the way it looks!

Here is the finished card:

Here are the supplies:

And again, the finished card, you can see the white glue holding the wire rings, but that will dry clear:

Day 80

My dad's birthday is next week and I of course wanted to make him a card, so I did that tonight, and even though I'm pretty sure he's not visiting this blog, I don't want to give away any surprises, so I'm only going to give a sneak peak tonight and after his birthday (May 6th) I'll come back and repost this with better pictures!

Until then....

Day 76

I have been thinking a lot lately about the goals I have, the things I want to accomplish and I decided to make a "dream board" or an "inspiration board" to keep me grounded and to remind me what I want to accomplish.

I had a piece of cardboard at work that was approximately 9" x 9" and decided that was a good size to do the board.  I went online and found photos of things that represent the dreams or goals that I have.  They are: a Tudor style home (my dream home), a Honda Element (my dream car), a woman celebrating getting out of debt (my goal), a jar of "savings" (my goal, to save money),  a baby's foot (my dream to have children), a photo of
aurora borealis/northern lights over Alaska (one of my dream trips) and a castle in Ireland (my other dream trip).  I printed and cut these pictures out and arranged them how I wanted.  I went back and glued a light purple card stock over the cardboard, then glued the pictures on the card stock.  I then went through a few magazines to find some wording and glued those on.  For the words I couldn't find in the magazine I used my rubber stamp letters.  Lastly, I trimmed the cardboard frame in dragonfly ribbon to just give it a more finished look.  Once the glue dries, I'll trim the ribbon on the edges and hang it up where I can be reminded of what my goals and dreams are in case I forget!

Board all finished:

Here is the cardboard and pictures cut out, getting ready to arrange it all:

Glued the purple card stock on the cardboard:

Day 74

I found this site today called Craftbits and they had some adorable craft ideas.  This was one of them.  It's called a "Index Card Note Deck".  I did it a tiny bit different then the directions, but not too far off.

I used a stack of index cards I had on hand, my label punch, a piece of decorated scrap book paper, two pieces of card stock, some ribbon, hole punch and a glue stick.  I punched out a handful of labels from the index cards, one from the scrap book paper and one each from the card stock colors.  I glued the scrap book paper to one of the regular labels to get the cover and used the others as dividers and the back cover.  After everything was cut, glued and hole punched I strung them onto the ribbon and knotted the top.  It came out really good, and will be used for all types of notes in the future!

Here is the Index Card Note Deck all done!

Here are some of the supplies I used, though I ended up not using this ribbon:

Day 64

I needed something simple today and I came up with this bookmark in seconds and it took about 5 minutes (if that) to make!

First I picked out some card stock , this one has glitter hearts with paw prints.  I used my label die cut and cut out two label shapes:

I flipped one over and cut a "V" shape, this is the tongue that will go over the book page to hold my place.  I then used a glue stick to stick the two labels together.

Here is the bookmark in a book, holding my spot!:

And here is the other side of the bookmark:

And here is the book closed, it peeks out and doesn't get in the way!:

Day 61

Today's craft is another "any occasion" card.  I'm calling this one "Sunburst"!  I traced a picture of a sun rising over the mountains in pencil and then again with a embossing ink pen.  I used red embossing powder and then colored in the other areas with some markers.  I cut it out and put it on a 3D dot and threw (alright maybe placed...) it on a yellow card and then I went wild and crazy and tried to do some freehand drawing of flames to match the sun....yeah, didn't come out to well.  But overall still a very nice card!

Day 60

I have this book called "Fabulous Folds For Card Making" and in it is a variation of this card.  Pretty much the same, except the size is a bit different and I used different paper and embellishments then what the book suggested.  This card is good for really any "female" whether friend or family.  It would be good for a birthday, Mother's Day, or just because!

First I cut down a piece of card stock and drew in an angle about an inch and cut that off:

I took a piece of scrapbook paper and used it for the front of the purse:

After some more cutting and folding, I added a band of yellow card stock on the top fold of the purse with some designs punched out so the purple would show through.  I then added two pink fasteners with some ribbon for the handle:

Here it is all done!:

And inside, tons of room to write lots of lovely things:

Day 48

So I was thinking all day that I just wanted to come home, do a simple craft and relax.  My first thought...bookmark.  I realized today that I had contact paper for a wedding craft I had planned and could use it as a laminate.  I mention all this to Stan and he helps me find a bookmark template online to make it even easier, just need to insert a photo and quote.  BONUS!  I tell him I want a picture of a moon, and he starts searching while I go to my trusty book of quotes to find something relevant.  I figure this will be done in no time...

Not so much...

Stan finds a nice picture, I find a good quote, we insert, print...and realize I had regular paper in the printer, so we print again, on white card stock.  Alright, no big deal.  I pull out my paper cutter, and the stupid thing is of course not cutting straight, so I try to fix it with regular scissors and I'm not straight.  I have a minor temper tantrum and have Stan trim for me.  Okay, I'm alright now, so I get out the hole punch and punch the hole at the top of the bookmark for the fringe string I want to add.  Low and behold I'm too close to the top, and end up splitting the hole open at the tippy top!  O..M..G...I fall to the ground and start slamming my head against the floor.  (Don't worry, we have carpet!)  I beg Stan to go downstairs and pop open a bottle of wine while I try to now cover the bookmark in contact paper to salvage the hole for the string.  I'm starting to hate bookmarks.  Alright, contact paper....I've never used it before, I cut a nice big square, put the bookmark face down close to the left side and fold the right side over to sandwich the bookmark.  Guess what??  I'm not straight, so the contact paper buckles and sticks...I toss the bookmark across the desk, and start swearing like a sailor.  Stan comes with wine...after a long silent gulp...yes, I admit it, a gulp...I feel better.  Stan takes over and trims it up for me.  Wine slowly goes through my body, I'm now feeling better.  I get the string and start stringing it through the now complete hole and can't get the knot to tie.  I keep trying while silently laughing manically in my head.  After about 5 attempts, I get it, I cut trim, I'm DONE!!!!

YAY!!!

And then I try to take pictures....sigh...our cat Cody decides he needs to help....sigh....I send Stan down for another glass of wine....here are the pictures..../headdesk

Day 45

When I got home from work tonight one of the first things Stan said was "I have a craft you can do tonight!".  And my first thought was "YAY!!!" because I wasn't too sure what I was going to do!

His computer came with a bunch of craft software and he was checking it out today.  There was a template for a photo cube, you just add your pictures, print it out, cut it, score the folding lines, fold and glue!  That's it!  It was easy and fun and now I have an adorable photo cube of the 6 loves of my life to adorn my desk at work!!!

Day 42

I'm a bit bummed today so I did today's craft with the hopes that it would be 1. easy and 2. cheer me up.  Succeeded at both!

I think it's well known that I love fairies so I went with the woodland fairy theme.  I was going to do a greeting card but it turned into a collage picture that I can hang up and smile at when needed.  All I did was cut out designs that were on scrapbook paper.  The flowers and the butterfly were each on their own page and the fairy I had from a collage sheet. The 3D yellow sticker reminded me of a sun so threw that on too.  Just cut and pasted accordingly and got this...

Day 41

A while back I saw a craft in one of my books for a charm similar to this one.  It's pretty versatile.  You can make so many different designs, so I chose to do one that is like a little secret.  Every time I look at it,open it and check it out, I'll think of Stan.  Some days I just need a smile, and opening this will trigger one in no time.

I used a "Memory Frame", card stock, letter stamps, yellow ink, waterslide transfers, stickers, glue stick and Mod Podge decoupage.  I cut out a long piece of card stock, put two waterslide transfer pages on pink card stock using decoupage and then used the glue stick to stick them onto the black card stock.  I then used stickers and then letter stamps with yellow ink to spell out our names.  It came out quite cute.  I need to pick up the glass for the Memory Frame though because the little book keeps popping out of the frame, but other then that, it's adorable.

Day 35

I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm having a case of "crafter's block" or something.  I couldn't really decide on what to do tonight so I went with another bookmark.  My idea was a woodland theme with a fairy hiding, or partially coming out.  I didn't really get the look I was going for.

I used a leaf stamp, a fairy stamp, and a dragonfly punch.  It's cute, but not what I wanted overall.  What do you think?
