Day 83

I have this really pretty peacock themed scrapbook and card stock paper that I wanted to use tonight but wasn't really sure how to.  I decided a mosaic style card might be a nice way to showcase the different papers.  I was trying to be precise about my cuts and then realized I wasn't getting anywhere trying to figure out measurements, so I just went for a haphazard approach, which when your crafting seems like a fantastic idea!

I picked a pretty blue card stock for the actual card, I then picked three different peacock themed card stock to go with it.  I cut each peacock paper into three strips and then each strip into squares.  I then applied each square to the blue card stock in a varied pattern.  It was really hard to photograph this when I was done because the paper is very shiny.  But here is what I came up with:

Day 81

I do believe I am suffering from crafter's block, or something like that.  Work has been keeping me so busy and I'm thinking that has something to do with it!  The nerve of them, don't they know they need to back off!  :)  Ah well...

I decided to go with another card today, just an everyday, all occasion card.  We have these three little wire rings, that honestly I can't remember where they came from, but I know Stan said to keep them because I might be able to use them in a craft.  I'm glad he had me save them.

I took the three wire rings, some extra decorative scrapbook paper and pink card stock to make the card.  I used some decorative scissors to cut the scrapbook paper, to give it a cute "different" look and glued that onto the card stock, then glued the wire rings over the scrapbook paper.  I really like the way it looks!

Here is the finished card:

Here are the supplies:

And again, the finished card, you can see the white glue holding the wire rings, but that will dry clear:

Day 74

I found this site today called Craftbits and they had some adorable craft ideas.  This was one of them.  It's called a "Index Card Note Deck".  I did it a tiny bit different then the directions, but not too far off.

I used a stack of index cards I had on hand, my label punch, a piece of decorated scrap book paper, two pieces of card stock, some ribbon, hole punch and a glue stick.  I punched out a handful of labels from the index cards, one from the scrap book paper and one each from the card stock colors.  I glued the scrap book paper to one of the regular labels to get the cover and used the others as dividers and the back cover.  After everything was cut, glued and hole punched I strung them onto the ribbon and knotted the top.  It came out really good, and will be used for all types of notes in the future!

Here is the Index Card Note Deck all done!

Here are some of the supplies I used, though I ended up not using this ribbon:

Here are the index cards, card stock and scrap book paper cut out in the label shape:

Day 60

I have this book called "Fabulous Folds For Card Making" and in it is a variation of this card.  Pretty much the same, except the size is a bit different and I used different paper and embellishments then what the book suggested.  This card is good for really any "female" whether friend or family.  It would be good for a birthday, Mother's Day, or just because!

First I cut down a piece of card stock and drew in an angle about an inch and cut that off:

I took a piece of scrapbook paper and used it for the front of the purse:

After some more cutting and folding, I added a band of yellow card stock on the top fold of the purse with some designs punched out so the purple would show through.  I then added two pink fasteners with some ribbon for the handle:

Here it is all done!:

And inside, tons of room to write lots of lovely things:

Day 51

I decided today that we needed coasters for Spring, and then the more I thought about it, I decided that we need coasters for all four seasons, SO this is part 1 of a 4 part seasonal craft!  When Summer gets a bit closer I'll do a set for that season, then Fall and then Winter!

Here is Spring.  I took four ceramic tiles, two pages from my spring scrapbook paper and my trusty stinky Mod Podge.  I cut down the paper to just under 4".  I cleaned the tiles with rubbing alcohol, smeared them with Mod Podge and then smeared the back of the paper with some more Mod Podge.  I centered the paper on the tile and then smeared more Mod Podge over the paper.  I have to do 5 coats, waiting 20 minutes in between each application.  So I don't have a finished picture, but you get the idea!  I'll add a picture of the dried coasters tomorrow so can get a real view of them.

UPDATE 3/29/11: ADDED FINISHED PICTURE AT THE END!

Here are the four tiles pre-paper application:

Here is the Spring paper I chose, two sheets:

Day 42

I'm a bit bummed today so I did today's craft with the hopes that it would be 1. easy and 2. cheer me up.  Succeeded at both!

I think it's well known that I love fairies so I went with the woodland fairy theme.  I was going to do a greeting card but it turned into a collage picture that I can hang up and smile at when needed.  All I did was cut out designs that were on scrapbook paper.  The flowers and the butterfly were each on their own page and the fairy I had from a collage sheet. The 3D yellow sticker reminded me of a sun so threw that on too.  Just cut and pasted accordingly and got this...

Day 32

Today's craft is allll about Izzy!  Well isn't everything about the princess?!?!  She's our baby.  What can I say.  I enjoy scrapbooking and if I could I would do book after book of just Izzy because she is just the cutest!

Here is a page all dedicated to her and her adorable little face!!

Here is the whole page:

And a close up of the top of the page:

Day 23

Today's craft I got from the book "The Big-Ass Book of Crafts".  Yes, that really is the name of the book.  One of the reasons I got it!  The crafts in the book are great, but pretty involved and in need of many supplies I never have.  I decided to flip through once more, since I usually do it quickly and forget what's in there.  I saw the "CD jewel case notebook" and decided to give it a go.

I realize I already did a notebook (the tea box notebook - Day 12) but this one is a different concept, and hey, you can never have enough paper notebooks around!

First I took a CD case, took out all the stuff inside (the cover, black cd holder and the back cover) then I cut 10 sheets of regular copy paper to 10" x 4.5" and folded it in half.  I then cut a piece of decorative scrapbook paper to the same size and glued it to the first white paper.  I cut another piece of paper 2" x 4.5" for the spine and glued that on to the bigger sheet.  I stuffed it all into the CD case and then put in a pencil (that I had to sharpen, and sharpen, and sharpen...until it was the right size!) and closed it all up nicely!

The finished CD jewel case notebook closed:
