Day 86

After some searching online for some bookmark ideas, I came across an origami bookmark and thought it would be a good way to incorporate the two things I have been enjoying lately, bookmarks and origami!

I really can never have enough bookmarks, so even though it may seem like overkill, every bookmark I've made to date has found a home snugly in a book, since I tend to read a few books at a time.

This bookmark was made with a piece of origami paper cut down to 3" x 3".  I used the template HERE.

Here is how it looks on the book:

Here is the paper I used, before I started folding, cut down from 6" to 3":

Here is the bookmark folded, all lonely, looking for a home on a nearby book (awwwww!):

Here is the other side of the bookmark, like how it saves me from dog-earring any corners:

Day 85

I was out all day with mom and just as we were heading home I started feeling a bit queasy, I laid down hoping it would go away but it hasn't so when it came time to do a craft, I really wasn't feeling up to doing something in depth.  Since I enjoy doing origami, and since it's usually a pretty easy craft, I decided to do the "Sailboat Note".  After you do all the folds, the closure, or buckle, is a sailboat.  The other side has a space for an address, or a name, or something else creative that I can't think of at the moment!

Here is the finished Sailboat Note:

Here is the paper I used:

This is about half way through the folding:

Day 77

I decided on a simple craft today and revised the Origami Stationery.  I chose a project that actually incorporates two different origami folds.  The finished origami is called a "Pillow Note", but it incorporates another origami called "Ship Mates".

First I folded the Pillow Note, which is pretty simple, just a few folds here and there.  Then I went and folded the two pages that make the Ship Mate origami.  You put the Ship Mate origami inside the Pillow Note, finish folding and the Ship Mate sits inside the Pillow Note, with the edges "fluffy" like a pillow.  It's pretty neat actually...

Here it is finished:

Take the two half's and join them:

All tucked and "fluffy" like a pillow!:

Day 50

For today's craft I decided to do the envelope that goes with yesterday's origami note.  It's very similar folding as the note, but you change it up a little near the end so it will fold into itself and "latch".

I really want to mail it to someone!

I chose a paper similar to yesterdays so they would sort of match:

Here is the envelope almost completed:

The left origami is the envelope opened up, and the origami on the right is the note I did yesterday:

Put the note inside the envelope and do a few more folds:

And here it is, all folded and ready to be sent out to it's recipient!:

Day 49

Since I'm still getting over the drama of last nights bookmark (*wink*) I decided to try some more origami.  This time I used a kit I had purchased called "Origami Stationery".  It teaches you how to make "elegant folded note cards and envelopes for a personal touch".  It's actually pretty great, and it makes me want to make a bunch of these and mail everyone a note!

I chose a pretty origami paper, the kit came with a bunch of beautiful paper.  Then I chose the "Trapezoid Note".  I'm not going to get into details on the folds I did, but here is a basic picture breakdown of what I did...

Here is the book, paper and bone folder:

First few folds got me here:

A little further still....:

All done!!:

And here it is back open, ready for me to write a note:

Day 6

I admit it, I sort of cheated tonight.  All I can say is "I bow to you, Ms. Martha Stewart".  I get daily emails from Ms. Martha and this bookmark was one I received the other day.  Complete with template...yeah, I said I cheated!  I printed the bookmark template on the colored cardstock, cut it out, cut out the collar, added the magnet tape, folded here and there, and VOILA!  Instant bookmark!!  Hey, it's a craft!  Tonight is TV night with Stan so I didn't want to interfere with time that could be yelling at Zack on Ghost Adventures (geeze, I really can't stand him!), so here is my cute little magnet bookmark!
